Two hours, fifty marks
This paper covers the first eight chapters of Maths Mela. You have two hours and fifty marks to win. Take a deep breath first.
Read everything before you write
Read every question once, right to the end. Put a small tick beside the ones you can already do. Start with those.
Part A goes quickly
Part A holds twenty questions of one mark. Give each about half a minute. If one will not come, move on and return later.
Part B wants a sentence
Part B holds nine questions of two marks. One or two sentences is plenty. Name the step you took, then give the answer.
Show your working in Part C
The last two questions carry six marks each. Write the sum you did, not the answer alone. Steps earn marks on their own.
Guard your units
Weight goes in grams or kilograms. Length goes in millimetres, centimetres, metres or kilometres. Write the unit beside every answer.
Keep ten minutes spare
Stop about ten minutes before the end. Read your sums again. Check that no question has been left blank.
About this paper
This paper follows the pattern most schools use for a half-yearly test. It is not a board paper. Class 5 has no board exam.
