Your school's data
A school trusts us with children's records. This page says, plainly, what we hold, who can see it and what we never do with it. It is a summary — the agreement a school signs with us is the full version.
The school is in charge
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, the school decides why its students' data is collected and how it is used — the school is the data fiduciary. Veda processes that data only to run the service for the school. We do not use it for any purpose of our own.
Because students are children, the Act asks for a parent's consent. The school collects that consent from parents, as it does for its own records today.
What we hold
Name, class and division, roll and GR number, date of birth, gender, parents' names and mobile numbers, attendance, marks and report cards, fee records, and when they sign in.
Name, phone number, designation, the subjects and classes they teach, and when they sign in.
Name, address, logo, the academic year, classes, timetable, fee plans and grading scale.
Who can see it
What we never do
- Sell or rent a school's data, to anyone
- Show advertising to students
- Send our own marketing to a school's parents or students
- Share one school's records with another school
AI features
When a teacher or student uses an AI feature — an answer key, a quiz, Ask Veda — the text or file they submit is sent to our AI providers to produce the answer. A school's registers, marks and fee records are not part of that.
How it is kept safe
- Everything travels encrypted between the app, the browser and our servers
- Passwords are stored only in hashed form — nobody at Veda can read them
- Every login sees only what its role allows, checked on the server
- A school can switch off any student's or staff member's login at once
When a school leaves
A school can ask us to delete its data. The details — what is deleted, and how the school gets a copy first — are set out in the agreement.
