How to Use the Revision Sets
A short set after every chapter from the second on: two questions from the chapter just finished and three from chapters further back.
What you will be able to do
- Sit a five-question set in five minutes with the book closed.
- Spot which earlier chapters have gone quiet and go back to them.
- Read a wrong answer as a chapter to revisit, not a mark lost.

What these sets are
One set follows each chapter from the second onwards. Every set holds five questions. Two come from the chapter you have just finished. Three come from chapters you finished earlier in the year.
Why the old questions come back
A chapter read once in June has mostly gone by September. A chapter you were asked about again in July, and once more in October, has not. Coming back to a fact is what keeps it, and reading it again is not the same thing. So the three older questions are never all from the chapter just before.
How to sit one
Five minutes, book closed. Do not look anything up while you work. Looking it up feels like learning and it is what stops the remembering. Mark it straight afterwards, while you still know why you chose each answer.
What a wrong answer means
A wrong answer in October on a question from Chapter 2 is not a bad day. It is Chapter 2 telling you it has faded. That chapter is worth twenty minutes of rereading before the term paper.
Nothing here is new
You have met every one of these questions before, in the practice of the chapter it came from. Not one of them is new. If a question feels new to you, the set has just done its job.
