Full explanation
What this paper is
This is a practice paper, not a board paper. Class 7 sits no board exam, and the books carry no marked test of their own. The shape here is the one a school commonly uses, so that sitting it feels like the real thing.
What it covers
Chapters 1 to 7. Two stories, two poems, an essay, a play and one more story, together with the grammar and vocabulary each unit teaches. Nothing from the second half of the book appears.
Point to the text
In English a reason is worth more than an opinion. When a question asks why, name the detail you are reasoning from. The marking schemes give a mark for the claim and a mark for the evidence, so an answer with no evidence loses half of what it could have had.
Count the parts
Several questions here ask for two things or three. Read them again before you write, and count what you have given. A good answer to half the question still scores half the marks.
How to spend three hours
Give the twenty one-mark rows about twenty-five minutes together. Leave a clear half hour for the two long answers, which carry twelve marks between them and both ask you to compare two texts.
What to do with a lost mark
Write the chapter number beside it. When the whole paper is marked, see which number appears most often. That chapter is where your next hour of revision belongs.
