Full explanation
Three hours, eighty marks, a whole year
This paper reaches across all fourteen chapters, from maps and oceans to economic activities. Most of it comes from the second half, because the half-yearly already examined the first.
How to revise for it
Do not try to reread fourteen chapters. Read your own mind maps and the key points instead, then test yourself on the ones you cannot recall. Recalling is what fixes a thing in memory; rereading only feels as though it does.
Read the paper through first
Read every question to the end before you write anything. Tick the ones you can already answer and start with those.
Part A is twenty quick marks
Twenty questions of one mark. Half a minute each. Leave any that will not come and return at the end.
Part B wants two points
Twelve questions of two marks. Two sentences, and make two separate points, because one mark usually sits on each.
Part C wants three
Six questions of three marks. Three things, not one thing said three ways.
Part D is the passage
Six marks in four parts, worth one, one, two and two. Read it twice. Nothing is asked that the passage does not contain or imply.
Part E is the long answer
Two questions of six marks. Plan each in the margin before you write.
Give a reason, not a view
In Social Science a reason is worth more than an opinion. Say which chapter, place, body or figure your answer rests on.
Keep fifteen minutes back
Stop a quarter of an hour early. Check that nothing is blank, that Part C really has three points, and that dates and names are right.
About this paper
This paper follows the pattern most schools use for an annual test. It is not a board paper. Class 6 has no board exam.
